A pulse transformer may also be referred to as a switching transformer, or simply a high frequency transformer. In the traditional high-frequency transformer design, due to the limitations of the core material, its operating frequency is low, usually around 20kHz. Switching transformer and the difference between ordinary transformers generally have the following:

(3) winding lines are more complex, most have a central tap. This not only increases the size of the primary winding, increases the size and weight of the transformer, but also changes the distribution of the windings in the core window.

Selection of transformer core and determination of working point.

2.1 core material selection

From the transformer performance requirements, we can see that the traditional thin-walled silicon steel has been difficult to meet the transformer in the frequency, the use of environmental design requirements. The core material is only considered from the permalloy, ferrite materials, cobalt-based amorphous alloys and ultra-microcrystalline alloys in several materials to consider. Permalloy, cobalt-based amorphous high price, about ferrite material several times, while the saturation magnetic induction Bs is not very high, and the processing process is complex. Taking into account the power output power we require is not high, about 30W, therefore, the synthesis of several materials, the performance comparison, we chose a saturated magnetic induction Bs higher, temperature stability, low price, easy processing cost Lower zinc-manganese ferrite material, and use this material as the framework of the EI28 to wrap the pulse transformer in this example.
